Tiled Roof Conservatories
Recently, tiled roof conservatories have become increasingly popular, mostly due to their practicality and sleek design. A solid roof on your conservatory will make the space feel more like a full extension of your house, but for a considerably smaller price tag.
The insulative properties of a tiled roof is what draws most people to choose this option. This feature means that your tiled roof conservatory will be usable year round, whether it is the hottest or coldest day of the year.
During winter your tiled roof will mean much less heat escapes so your new extension will feel much warmer than a regular conservatory, such as a gable conservatory. In summer the solid roof provides a shady area and stops the conservatory from overheating, yet the large windows will still keep your conservatory airy and light. The tiled roof and A+ rated glazing will keep your conservatory energy efficient and insulated.
Here at CTG we want your new tiled roof conservatory to match the style and look of your current home. We will strive to match your new tiles of your conservatory with the tiles of your current roof – blending your new extension into your current home.

Can you put a proper roof on a conservatory?
It’s completely possible to install a “proper” roof on your conservatory. At CTG we recommend tiled roofs; this is because they’re lightweight and can easily be fitted onto your existing conservatory. We have a large range of tiles, so we can often find ones to match your existing roof, making your tiled roof conservatory blend in perfectly with your home.
Tiled roofs are generally more durable than glass, and are more energy efficient. The insulated roof stops heat escaping in winter so you can cosy up with a book and a cup of tea all year round. If you’re not sure whether a tiled roof would be right for your conservatory, contact us today to find out more.
Does a tiled roof make a conservatory more efficient?
Absolutely! A tiled roof will do wonders for your thermal efficiency, as the insulated roof will prevent a lot of heat escaping in the winter, while also providing some much-needed shade in the heat of the summer. At CTG, all our windows are A+ rated double glazing with compression seal technology, which together reduce heat loss and banish draughts. In the winter, you’ll just need a little heating to turn your conservatory into a lovely cosy space to be, and in the summer you’ll be able to enjoy the warmth without enduring sweltering heat; and all with gorgeous panoramic views of your garden!
What does the ceiling look like with a tiled conservatory roof?
No surprises here – your ceiling will look like an ordinary ceiling! It will follow the shape of your conservatory though, so if you have vaulted ceilings then this will be reflected in the ceiling we install. Behind the ceiling we fit insulation that will stop heat escaping, and if you like we can also install roof lighting to keep your space light even at night. With a tiled roof outside and an elegant pitched ceiling inside, your conservatory will feel like a brand-new space! Contact us today to find out more about our tiled roof conservatories.
Are tiled roof conservatories dark inside?
Whether you think a tiled roof conservatory is dark is dependent on what you’re comparing it to. It will be darker than a conservatory with a glass roof, of course, but the floor to ceiling windows will still let in a significant amount of light, making it much brighter than one of your internal rooms. What we often do with our tiled roof conservatories is to install roof lighting in the ceiling, which means you have complete control of how much light you want in the space, even when it’s dark outside.
