Patio Doors

  • We regularly receive praise for our patio doors here at CTG and (if we do say so ourselves!) it’s no surprise why! Like a lot of other sliding patio doors, our patio doors are specifically created not to rattle, squeak or stick. Our patio doors are all about comfort, light and beauty.

You can be sure that all our products are rigorously tested to ensure they can endure extreme weathers, and this includes our patio doors. Your patio doors will undergo thorough weather testing, leaving you safe in the knowledge that your home is safe from high winds, heavy rain and storms.

Merge your inside and outside spaces to open up your home to nature, giving a spacious atmosphere and increasing the natural light in your property. Choose either uPVC or aluminium for your patio doors, both of which are durable, simple to upkeep and highly aesthetic. Select between two, three or four panes and provide ease of access to and from your property.

Our quality patio doors are a viable alternative to bifold doors, yielding a copious amount of natural light and giving a more open and spacious atmosphere. Did you know that having more natural light in your home can actually boost your happiness levels?

How do you open a sliding patio door?

Whilst our sliding patio doors are designed to open and close with ease, they are also extremely secure when shut, ensuring your home remains safe. Open them by turning the door handle at a particular angle to release the door and slide shut as far as you wish. As the door is on rollers, it’s easy to slide open and closed, no matter the size of the door. When we install your sliding patio doors, one of our expert team will show you how they work, taking you through how to use them in the correct way. We’ll always make sure you know exactly how to use them before leaving you to enjoy the new addition to your home.

What is a lift and slide patio door?

Lift and slide style patio doors work differently to traditional sliding patio doors. Whilst traditional sliding doors sit on a sliding track the whole time, lift and slide patio doors come off the track when you close them fully. This ensures it’s secure in the closed position, so no draughts find their way inside your home. To open the doors, turn the handle, life the door a little to put it back on the track and watch it roll open with ease. You’re also able to lower the door off the track to lock it in an open position. A great feature if you have kids or pets you don’t want to escape when you’re not looking! .

Are sliding patio doors easy to break into?

Patio doors may be mostly of glass, but that doesn’t mean they’re not extremely secure. Double and triple glazing both make it challenging for intruders to break into and here at CTG our experts install toughened glass as standard, for all windows and doors lower than 800mm from floor height. This means more security for your home and increased peace of mind for you. You’ll also benefit from our highly sophisticated locking devices, incorporated into the design of all exterior doors – another means of keeping your home secure. All CTG doors are approved by the Secured By Design initiative, which is a police-led plan that sets specific lock and security rules to follow to reduce burglaries across the UK.

How wide is a two panel sliding glass door?

Are you considering sliding doors? Remember to consider how wide the opening will need to be. Small properties are well suited to sliding doors because they don’t have swinging doors that can take up a lot of space. However, this means only half of the door is able to open at any one time. The standard size for patio doors is approximately 6ft (1.8m), which makes for an opening of 3ft (90cm) out to the garden. Here at CTG, we can create sliding doors to whatever dimensions you require. Whether you’re looking for them to fit a small space or would like sliding doors that make up a whole outside wall, we can help. Simply contact us today for a no-obligation (free) quote and expert, friendly advice.

Are patio doors energy efficient?

Patio doors have the capability of being highly energy efficient, though the opposite can also be true; this is down to the quality of the door. Should you opt for a double or triple-glazed door option that has a high-quality PVCu or aluminium frame in addition to an effective locking system, you can be confident that your patio doors will be very energy efficient. We advise that you look out for A+-rated glass that has a low U-value, as the presence of a low U-value means less heat will escape. Our patio doors are manufactured by us using the best materials and in a state-of-the-art factory. We will also make sure they are the most energy-efficient they can possibly be.

How much does a patio door cost?

This depends on a variety of factors, including the material you choose, the size of the doors you would like and the kind of glass you opt for. In general, aluminium is more costly than PVCu, bigger doors equate to bigger prices and triple glazing is more expensive than double glazing. Whatever you decide on, you can be sure that our products are of high quality and created and fitted by professionals. Get your free, no-obligation quote today by contacting us at your convenience.
