Lean-to Conservatories

  • High quality and with a sleek, elegant design, our lean-to conservatories are the perfect option for those who have height restrictions around their home.

Ideal for those who live in bungalows, or who have a space which doesn’t quite accommodate the size of a conservatory, lean-to conservatories are a great way to add some extra living space. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean-to conservatories can vary in size: a shallow pitch works well with bungalows, whereas a steep pitch is great for a terraced house.

Conservatories add light and space to a home, offering a bright space which is perfect for entertaining guests in, especially in the summertime. Our lean-to conservatories take on the purist, less is more approach – perfect for those who want something simple to let the light in.

Our lean-to conservatories are an ideal option if you want to convert some spare space into an extra room as they are used where there are adjoining walls.

The addition of an extra living space is sure to have endless benefits and uses, and if you’re a bit of a foliage fan, they’re ideal for growing plants due to the amount of sunlight they let in.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations for a lean to conservatory?

Lean-to conservatories harness the support of one of your home’s pre-existing structural walls; despite this, it will still require foundations, which will ensure it stands strong for years to come. The type of soil you would like your conservatory to be installed on will dictate the depth of the foundations. We will arrange for a surveyor to visit your home and check what type of footings and groundwork are best, to ensure your conservatory remains sturdy.

What’s the difference between a lean-to and a conservatory?

There are a number of parallels that can be drawn between lean-to conservatories and standard conservatories. Both styles use large glass surface area to bring in more warmth and natural light into your home. Standard conservatories are larger and can have pitched roofs and more intricate and decorative detail, as with our Edwardian and Victorian conservatories. Lean-to styles typically have a flat or sloping roof and require less room; they also don’t protrude a large distance away from your home’s external wall. Unsure what kind of conservatory would suit you? Visit your local showroom for inspiration and friendly advice.

What is a lean-to conservatory?

One of the most basic styles of conservatories we offer, lean-to conservatories are also known as sunrooms and are made up of a trio of glass walls, extending from one of your home’s main walls. They’re generally smaller than a regular conservatory. Choose whether you would like a tiled roof to leverage insulation during the colder times of the year, or whether you’d like a glass roof to make the most of the natural light coming into your home. Either way, both options create a fantastic space for your home. If you don’t have sufficient room for a full conservatory, the option of lean-to is a popular one.

Why choose a lean-to conservatory?

Lean-to conservatories are a popular choice if your property has limited outdoor space, allowing you to reap the benefits of additional insulation and natural light into your indoor space. In cases where there is limited space under the eaves or where the property in question is a bungalow, installing a regular conservatory is no easy task. With lean-to conservatories, the steepness of the roof can be altered for example, a steeper slant would be needed for a terraced house, whilst a shallow slant would suit a low bungalow roof. One of a lean-to conservatory’s most defining characteristics is they have classic clean lines, making them a great aesthetic addition to modern properties, adding space without sacrificing too much of the garden area.
